The Army of M.E. has endless love for Diane von Furstenberg and Nathan Jenden, as designer of his own line and as creative director of DVF, a seemingly idyllic professional relationship abundant with mutual respect. Both DVF and Jenden’s Autumn/Winter 08/09 shows were two of the best of last fashion week season and both have leaked on the inspirations they are working with for their respective S/S ‘09 lines. Jenden says, “It’s like being a kid in a candy shop with this collection. There’s lots of colour -it’s like The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, twisted with an edge -electric boudoir.” As for Diane von Furstenberg, it gets even more fantasy-minded with her inspiration being Wonder Woman. Apparently, Warner Brothers and DC Comics approached her to collaborate on a capsule collection to raise money for Vital Voices Global Partnership, for the empowerment of female entrepreneurs around the world. The collection will call upon the star emblem (the same clandestine emblem of the Army of M.E.) and the vibrant color palette. Von Furstenberg stated that, “Wonder Woman is the ultimate symbol of female strength, independence and freedom…I immediately thought it was a fun idea that would reinforce my belief in women and commitment to their empowerment. The collection will inspire every woman to be the Wonder Woman she wants to be.” The Army of M.E. thinks she didn’t need to collaborate with Warner Bros and DC Comics because every time she speaks or designs, we feel inspired to be the Wonder Woman she wants us to be! We can’t wait to see what creatively transpires onto the runway with both of these fashion shows…
