08SepIntroducing: William Rast Spring / Summer 2009

We can’t not cover this -we heart JT (Justin Timberlake), but hate when celebs already cast in other roles attempt fashion design. That Justin has done it again though -as much as we may want to hate it, we just can’t. The jackets for both men and women were the highlights and I really loved the black American flag sans the stars print on olive green tees. The denim is nothing special. But these are utterly wearable:

08SepVena Cava Shoe Collection For Via Spiga

Speaking of Vena Cava’s Spring Summer 2009 runway show, as we were anticipating, they collaborated with Via Spiga for the shoes for this “Egyptomania” show, covered in the previous post. The capsule collection will retail for $300-$850 exclusively at Via Spiga’s new Soho flagship opening in October and online (although we don’t know when but just investigated and they’re not available yet). Here are some detail shots of the shoes from the show (sorry they’re so small):

We have a fascination with Egypt, apparently so did the Vena Cava girls this season:

08SepThreeasfour Spring / Summer 2009

WOW WOW WOW! And we usually reserve those comments for Paris…

08SepKoi Suwannagate Spring / Summer 2009

My little daughter loves butterflies and has bright, colorful, sparkly renditions of them around her room so this show’s ode to the butterfly reminded me of her and gave me a warm feeling. As far as actually wearing this on the street? There are a few in here I would consider:

08SepDiane Von Furstenberg Spring / Summer 2009

Diane is our muse so all that she does we love. We, however, are not into hippie ’60’s overly flowy, long things but we love the way they look on models. This was one of the crazier shows at the tents this weekend as far as celebs and paparazzi frenzies are concerned, but that’s status quo at her shows. Here are some of our favorites. 08SepJonathan Saunders Spring / Summer 2009

The Army of M.E. loved this show -it was so colorful and exciting! Because of the truncated shortness of some of these looks, I was not a fan of the skirts that had a higher hem in the front as seen to the right. But I really enjoyed all of these looks (All photos courtesy of Style.com where you can see the entire show -you don’t even want to see the blurry images from our digi cam):

08SepAlexander Wang Spring / Summer 2009 Runway

Okay there are just some fashion week shows that cannot be ignored, not for just greatness or WTF moments but for sheer obscurity. Alexander Wang is just about the most adorable man alive -no contest. But we were a bit perplexed by some looks from this collection. Our absolute favorite thing is mixing up, mismatching genres, materials and ideals. However, jersey paired with silk or leather was something interesting. Below are our favorite looks -we appreciate his incorporation of color (it’s clearly going to be very colorful next spring!) but we still loved all of the black pieces best. P.S. -we just heard a style rumor that riding pants and head wraps/scarves are the new…and then it popped right up on the runway in the third look here. Nothing in fashion happens naturally, spontaneously or by accident I suppose. To see all the jersey combo looks and colorful adaptions mentioned above go to Style.com where we source all our runway photos.

08SepTrovata Spring / Summer 2009

The simplicity of Trovata…some great pieces…

08SepThe Eldridge Has Finally Arrived

People have not been able to shut up about this place for months and it’s just now opening, sort of. They’re hosting a lot of private events for fashion week and such over the next week or so but they are open, in some cases, after the events. Everyone became obsessed with getting a ‘key’ to the place that was supposed to be completely private -yeah, Bungalow 8 all over again- but I don’t know why these places waste their time. I will always get in ;) In fact, The Eldridge wanting to be the new Bungalow became even more evident when owner Matt Levine described it as “a club fused with the hospitality of a concierge service” -someone call Amy Sacco! The ‘key’ pictured above right that was originally needed to enter has gone south and it will be open to the public -with a strict door, as all places worth going have. It has a clandestine front facade camouflaged as a bookstore and the interior details include gold-flecked floors, leather banquets and wood everywhere plus the oh so ‘mine is bigger than yours’ aspect of a $650k gold-plated Armand de Brignac champagne wall. I believe one of us has an event to attend there this week -we’ll update the details if necessary. 247 Eldridge between Houston & Stanton. Interior shot with house lights up (i.e. it will be much more dark and mysterious in person) courtesy of Thrillist.
