Just a few months after announcing her Wonder Woman themed collection (click HERE for that), DVF is planning to base a collection on her old friend, Andy Warhol. One of the Belgian’s to be recognized with a Fashion Walk of Fame plate on 7th Ave. last week, and unanimously re-elected as the Pres of the CFDA this week, not to mention one of the Army of M.E.’s greatest inspirations, Diane von Furstenberg also has on her plate a collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for her resort 2008 and pre-spring 2009 collection. Specifically, you can expect the big-leaf flower prints on bikinis and one-piece bathing suits as well as Marilyn’s face on sarongs and kaftans. According to Furstenberg, “Andy’s pop colors and iconic images feel glamorous and right for the beach. Andy and I were contemporaries, so it feels right.” We couldn’t agree with her more and can’t wait to see the results!
Why? Why is she doing this? There is already too much bad style on the streets. I know I already vented about it but I just can’t let this one go. She seems to think that if she does it, no matter how ridiculous, we’ll all jump on board. But we won’t (okay, many fashion victims will). We didn’t all decide to become femme bots and marry someone we don’t love for some instant gratification (money, celebrity, status, a seat on the spaceship to Zenon or whatever the hell those Scientologists believe). I don’t know what’s more the story here, that she’s pinch/peg-rolling her baggy 1980’s-style jeans or that she can’t go a week without wearing these same pair?! This is quite the hot-mess -she’s me circa 1985 from the waist down and my grandma from the waist up. But to find some sort of positive here -I do love the new haircut she must have got this morning/last night.

“My Life in T-Shirts” is the title and you know you wish you thought of it first. Just think of how, as a man, you could easily define the times of your life via the tees you’ve rocked. Aaron is known to many as ‘Aaron the Downtown Don’ having founded aNYthing and recently Off Bowery. The book has an introduction by Richard Prince (click HERE for a recent article in the Daily Telegraph where Mr. Prince -if that’s really his name- admits he can’t be trusted) and will be released on September 6th (also known as the biggest day/night of NY fashion week) at Asia Song Society. Overseas releases are also scheduled for Colette in Paris and The Pantheon in Rome…I suppose they likely coincide with Paris and Milan fashion weeks as well.

The Army of M.E. don’t tend to report on anything having to do with Roberto Cavalli -tacky fashions are best left to Miami. But one design we’re feeling has nothing to do with clothing but outfitting Coke Light bottles. These are the three ‘looks’ of the bottles re-worked by Roberto. 300,000 will be released from September to December only in Italy. We must admit, while leopard print for flowy silk pants via 1970’s is not something we gravitate towards, it’s pretty cool for a Coke Light bottle.

Freeman’s Sporting Club spreads the love west with their opening of FSC Barber today on Horatio St. It’s an 8-chair shop with similarly quaint accoutrements as the original in the rear of the LES shop. There are leather antique barber’s chairs, Appalachian wood floors and a dangerously sharp blade too close to your jugular for comfort! The Club services have the same prices you expect with straightforward shave, haircut, or both on the service menu. They also have a new hangover remedy which consists of a rose water wash, hot eucalyptus towel, eye cream and shoulder massage -your girl will appreciate the results but if she ever know how they came about she’d def. think you’re gay. Pretend, as she has claimed so many times, that you just woke up that way. 5 Horatio St. @ W 4th. 212.929.3917.

For the perfect escape from this urban jungle, the first place that always comes to my mind for a quick getaway is Atlantic City, New Jersey. Um, no, never, not even a little bit. But somehow the spandex-pant capital of the world has attracted the likes of uber-hotness boutique hotel The Chelsea. There was already a ribbon cutting ceremony and the site has been up a while but apparently it officially opens today. So what’s all the hotmess about? The 5th floor -Paul Sevigny and Matt Abramcyk are the masterminds behind this floor which will represent the hotel’s hospitality and nightlife space. There will be The Bar, The Living Room, The Game Room, The Terrace and a 15,000 sq ft rooftop swimming pool area with private cabanas and a full-service bar. According to Abramcyk, “the 5th floor at The Chelsea will infuse Atlantic City with stylish yet nostalgic nightlife similar to that of its heyday.” Um, really? Okay. Look I loves me some AC, I stayed at the Borgata a year ago for a bachelorette (which was the reason every other person in that hotel was there that -and I suspect every- weekend) and I loved it. A casino, Marc Jacobs-selling boutiques, a performance space, and a bevy of nightclubs and restaurants all under the same roof? I’d live there!
