04OctGareth Pugh Spring / Summer 2009

The past collides with the future in an explosion of excitement as Pugh shows for the first time in Paris. It’s what you’ve come to expect from his shows just bigger and better! The music, the venue and the standing ovation that came at the end meant he has found his runway home…for now. Click HERE to see the Style.com video of Gareth and fans like Jefferson Hack explaining the collection -it’s also necessary to see these pieces in movement.

04OctKris Van Assche Spring / Summer 2009

The word ‘chola’ came up in describing this collection. Not sure if it was derived from Kris or the never-been-in-the-ghetto people sizing up the collection, but the only thing chola about this would be the fake tattoos on the models. this is a ‘chola’…

this is NOT…

01OctVice Presidential Debate : Watch Tribeca Grand Hotel

The Army of M.E. is being naughty again -we should be covering Paris but, seriously, that’s what Style.com is for -plus they get paid to do so :). Our fault is being focused on this election, the debates, and the ginormous success of our debate:watch event. We’ve been asked to move forward with arranging these events for the remaining debates -the most hysterical of which will take place tonight. People had so much fun on Friday that the response has already quadrupled! We feel great about doing this so we hope you’ll forgive The Army of M.E. for our recent lack of posting love.

29SepObservations From Paris : Gareth Pugh

One of the most anticipated shows of Paris fashion week is Gareth Pugh’s Parisian debut which took place yesterday -full shots in a later post. What I’ve just discovered on YouTube are two videos from the show -one from COACD and the other from Suzy Bubble. Oddly, they both seemed to have been sitting right next to each other but more poignantly is the fact that they are just behind Hamish Bowles and pretty close to front row. Now, being the front seat crasher I am -I understand how easy this is to achieve but it does make an impression upon me about where bloggers/free media stand in relation to traditional media. Yes, I know, old news -but it really is amazing how quickly the barriers have eroded and how far a free blogger account can get someone. Talent is naturally a pre-requisite. Below is COACD’s video from the show -it’s quite amazing!

You can find them exclusively at colette in Paris, OriginalFake in Tokyo and Marc Jacobs stores in London & the states. Today is the first day they are available.

29SepMonday Morning Briefing

-The Army of M.E. & StyleRepublik hosted a brilliant debate:watch event on Friday -thanks to the Tribeca Grand Hotel. It was such a success we are planning to do a debate:watch for the remaining debates. We will post the invite as soon as it is designed.

-While we were cheering and jeering the two presidential candidates, most of the fashion world were on flights to Paris. That ’s right, it’s our favorite fashion week -Paris! As I’m sure you noticed, we didn’t cover Milan. We actually love some of the shows there like Pucci, Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Bottega Veneta but we chose not to highlight our favorite looks this season. Go to Style.com for all their comprehensive coverage.

-In SNL’s opening skit on Saturday Tina Fey who is Piggy Palin gave a pretty much verbatim recount of what happened during Palin’s interview with Katie Couric…
