The Army of M.E. apologizes for the lack of love this week but this is why…
That’s right all you snooty rich twats! Oh, right, you don’t DO sample sales. So, to the rest of us lowlifes who can’t afford retail ‘H’ get out your plastic and figure out who you know that would simply die for one of their signature bags, scarves, shoes, ties and home products. And if you dare, there’s ready-to-wear. Today, Friday & Saturday 10a-6p, Thurs. Sept. 25 10a-8p and Sunday Sept.28 1p-6p. Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St. betw. 6th & 7th, 4th floor. I’m tooooooooootally going to this…to heckle and make fun of anyone in their right mind who is clamoring for discount Hermes while the economy and country are absolutely tanking. Get real. And there’s no photo -you make me sick.
Today is the inauguration of another Bond St. retail outpost. Billy Reid will have a wide selection of men’s apparel and accessories including selvedge denim, woven shirts, handmade luggage and shoes and a capsule collection of women’s apparel for bored girlfriends to browse. It’s a two-floor 1,800sf space on Bond close to Bowery.
The past two NY fashion weeks have brought our desks several interesting oragami, cloth, meticulously embossed, unique invites -but for whatever reason, my love for the simple graphics of the Rad Hourani graphics on the e-mailed invites made the biggest impression. A very minimalist concept of white print on black background with information mirrored on opposite sides of the invite. Adequately clear with just a hint of confusion for those stupid enough to not take a moment to pay attention. It seems I am not the only one with this opinion as Hint Mag has commissioned the androgonyst designer to work this concept onto a T-shirt/dress. In this case, the print consists of the dates and times of a calendar -pick yours up HERE.
Women’s five-pocket boot-cut jeans that were $198 are now $75, $198 denim skirts are now $60, straight-leg jeans for men that were $210 are now $75 and children’s jeans that were $150…wait, seriously?! $150?! They grow out of that shit in like a month! That’s just stupid. Anyway, they’re now $50 (still insane, if you ask me). September 20-28, Daily 8a-8p. 831 Washington St. betw. Gansevoort & Little West 12th Sts.

This was is one of my favorite LES retail haunts from back in the day when I lived around the corner. They have progressed so nicely over the years -particularly evident in their covetable bags which, by the way, are over 50% off at this sale! The city totes in particular! Get the elbows out bitches, I’ll be at this one. Their Chiffon Wrap Dresses formerly marked at $374, are now $150 and gauze tops that were $248 are now $95. Sept. 19 & 20 Fri & Sat 11a-8p. 114 Stanton betw. Ludlow & Essex
Aww, I love Nathan -love what he does for this label and as the creative director of Diane von Furstenberg. I’m a bit put off that he went the way of everyone else this London fashion week as far as being tooooooootally ’80’s. To even say the term the ’80’s style’ is ridiculous because it’s an oxymoron -there was no style in the ’80’s so why are we endlessly referencing it? Luckily, in these looks he updated the reference and pulled it off…
This is young, it’s fun and it’s exciting. More relevant it has classic, mod elements and is very wearable. I really loved this show -and it’s not just because I spent the majority of the ’80’s perfecting the art of my Pacman skills (the show was themed Pacman). It also had to do with the styling, hair, make-up, bags and, of course, the camouflage elements -we are the Army of M.E. after all. It was tough editing out any looks from our favorites…
Yet another ’social brand’ as we referenced in regard to the Ben Cho collection. You can see the whole collection at Style.com. This is just silly club clothes for kids, not so much fashion…
