Avant-garde, yes, couture -not quite. But valuable nonetheless..

A super cool stylist I used to assist is noted as the must of Marios Schwab, or one of them at least. We can definitely see the influences. Here are the highlights of the show -sitting there and watching evoked a feeling of disassociation and confusion, like you’re starting to get something and then it morphs into something else. It was like a ride and if intentional, brilliant. If not, dis-jointed.
We interrupt this fashion week(s) coverage for something of actual importance. Really, these London shows are awful -we may just suspend coverage until Paris, if that. Since the commander of the Army of M.E. is celebrating her birfday tomorrow, she just came across a website entitled borninseptember.org which she obviously was intrigued by. Being the all-knowing, ridiculously-connected and socially-associated person she is, she knew the man behind the website that streamed the below video. She recalled Scott Harrison from her former, less responsible years but was so excited to see someone else who graduated on to doing something more. It’s all too often she finds the same people in the same places doing the same things -as she calls it ‘a pipeline’ through which the same shit constantly flows and she can plug into/out of at any given time and find nothing new other than wrinkles. Well, Scott hasn’t aged a day and here’s why…

Luella is becoming quintessential London. We’ve loved her since our first days in the fashion world -we even partied with her a few times before she was who she now is and she’s great fun. I’d say this collection is evidence of that fun spirit…I’m still trying to make sense of this season’s ruffled layers at the hip which seem to be on every single runway.
It was all about the peek-a-boo at this show but I found it to be fun, no matter how actually unwearable. I take that back because I think transparency is a great creative tool when it comes to style. It’s an invitation to bring a color, perhaps brighter than you would normally dare, and in the case of this show, slip it under an otherwise neutral tone to liven the whole look up. It goes without saying how much I hate the shoes but they were meant to make a statement that was not literal so they are excused from consideration.
As evidenced on the runways of Peter Jensen and Topshop (not) Unique, the ’80’s are back and in an awful, tasteless way I might ad. This shit is terrible. I won’t go on about it but the ’80’s need to remain as they are as far as style is concerned…in the PAST! Come on people, move on. The only idiots who wear this crap are brainless youngsters who don’t know any better or haven’t figured out what actually looks good on them. To end on a positive note though, both shows had some modernized looks that weren’t total disasters…these, however, are not them…
