We ran the launch of this traveling Zaha Hadid exhibition when it began several months ago in Hong Kong, click HERE for more. Army of M.E. allies at COACD were called for a last minute photo shoot and got exclusive shots of the exhibition being erected in Central Park for the NYC stint. It will open to the public On October 20th. For full details click HERE. All photos courtesy of COACD.

As we frantically try and make sense of our fashion week schedules on this side of the pond, London is hosting an amazing exhibit at the London College of Fashion. The art gallery at the school is hosting an exhibit which opens tomorrow called Spin. It features artwork by alumnus, and an Army of M.E. Own Personal Jesus, Peter Saville, as well as other alums Faris Rotter and Dylan Jones. The exhibition will explore the relationship between design, art and music. According to Saville, “Between the Fifties and Eighties, before style magazines, MTV and the internet, the record cover was the primary visual communication between young people around the world.” Saville’s covers happen to be some of our favorites for some of our favorite musicians. Pictured here is New Order’s Blue Monday album cover. For those crossing the pond for LFW, Spin: The Art of Cover Design is on from 3. Sept - 3. Oct. at the Arts Gallery, 65 Davies St., W1K 5DA

Tomorrow night at The Fuse Gallery is the opening reception for the new photo book by Yeah Yeah Yeahs member Nick Zinner. Apparently, he’s released three other photo books prior to this one that slipped past our radar and checking out the images HERE may explains why. I love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and it’s great he’s using his touring time to do something more constructive than getting laid…I suppose. Tomorrow 16. Aug. Fuse Gallery 93 2nd Ave. betw. 5th & 6th Streets. Reception from 7p-10p.
This is Patrick Griffin’s first solo show -the concept: there will be a giant wall resembling a leather jacket with many over-sized buttons on them. There will also be a performance during the opening by TV Baby (members of A.R.E. Weapons). The details (because even if you click on this flyer they are still illegible): Tonight 6p-9p @ The Journal Gallery -168 North 1st St. in Williamsburg, BKLYN.

Lingering in your future are not only the unabridged dictionary-sized September issues of fashion glossies, but the hugely anticipated re-design of Andy Warhol’s Interview mag since Glenn O’Brien, Fabien Baron and Christopher Bollen replaced Ingrid Sischy. Any second now it will be on stands and will feature the Kate Moss cover pictured here. What’s behind this cover? An interview with Martin Margiela -who just about never gives interviews! They will also have a new feature called “Interview Back Page” where they will print retro interviews. The first one is with Christy Turlington from when she was 16. Apparently, the current August issue was their best selling in a decade. It was tough to hear of Sischy’s departure but we are pretty excited to see the future Interview.
*We were actually in the city this weekend so we have reason for a little Monday briefing:
-Friday was 08.08.08 and the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, the Army of M.E. were in attendance…kind of. We were at the boutique Opening Ceremony here in NYC. There was a dj, lots of champagne, many of the Nike’s we highlighted on Friday and one of the only gay/bi/etc. cheerleader groups doing a cheer on the steps leading up to OC’s third floor. The debate was centered all around whether to get the gold/silver Nike Air Force 1’s which were being sold in a very democratic manner of making only so many available throughout time intervals. We had some time to catch up with Humberto and told him how excited we are for the Japanese invasion coming soon! (This is our photo of the Nike Quilted Patent kicks displayed at the Opening Ceremony event)
-Saturday we unexpectedly were invited to see Radiohead perform at the All Points West music and arts festival. It was outdoor on a perfect - weathered night, on the grounds of Liberty State Park which is blanketed by the lights of the hovering downtown buildings of the Financial District and Lady Liberty’s torch. It was the perfect night in every way! Click HERE for much better (for editorial use only) images at Wireimage -unlike our drunken mess of a shot, sorry.

Victoria & Albert Museum in London is getting in on the Olympic sport action with an exhibit entitled ‘Fashion V. Sport’. “This exhibition explores the creative connections between the two worlds of fashion and sport. Recent developments have seen an increasing number of collaborations…from fashion designers…with sportswear brands to sports personalities heading fashion campaigns or even designing their own collections. (This exhibit) will reveal the complexities and tensions between the two industries.” Click HERE for all the details.

“My Life in T-Shirts” is the title and you know you wish you thought of it first. Just think of how, as a man, you could easily define the times of your life via the tees you’ve rocked. Aaron is known to many as ‘Aaron the Downtown Don’ having founded aNYthing and recently Off Bowery. The book has an introduction by Richard Prince (click HERE for a recent article in the Daily Telegraph where Mr. Prince -if that’s really his name- admits he can’t be trusted) and will be released on September 6th (also known as the biggest day/night of NY fashion week) at Asia Song Society. Overseas releases are also scheduled for Colette in Paris and The Pantheon in Rome…I suppose they likely coincide with Paris and Milan fashion weeks as well.
