Launching today exclusively on Net-A-Porter is Preen’s first resort collection. Featured are The Power Bandage Dress (love), The Club Dress, The Love Dress and The Drape Dress -pictured in that order below. You can click HERE to shop but in these times a dress lingering around $1,000 is just socially irresponsible -we just think it’s fun to look!

The past two NY fashion weeks have brought our desks several interesting oragami, cloth, meticulously embossed, unique invites -but for whatever reason, my love for the simple graphics of the Rad Hourani graphics on the e-mailed invites made the biggest impression. A very minimalist concept of white print on black background with information mirrored on opposite sides of the invite. Adequately clear with just a hint of confusion for those stupid enough to not take a moment to pay attention. It seems I am not the only one with this opinion as Hint Mag has commissioned the androgonyst designer to work this concept onto a T-shirt/dress. In this case, the print consists of the dates and times of a calendar -pick yours up HERE.

As we mentioned previously, Target will be putting up what they call ‘Bullseye Bodegas’ around NYC and we wanted to remind you since they launch today. Oak Manhattan is celebrating its first fall season in Manhattan, on Bond St., with the offering of an exlusive collection available beginning today. They requested a bevy of designers to create pieces inspired by the theme of “bondage” -kinky. The concept was interpreted by Filippa K, Obesity and Speed, Hood by Air, Complex Geometries and all the others listed on the flier. Although you are back and forth to fashion shows you must make an effort -the looks are only available online and at the Bond St. store Sept. 8-11th.
Although a bleak date for New Yorkers, Target decided to move ahead with September 11th being the launch date of their four pop-up shops around Manhattan. They are called “Bullseye Bodegas” and will be invading the neighborhoods of: East Village, Soho, Union Square and Midtown. There are obviously a lot of shows, good ones too, going on around town that day so in your mad cab rush you can swing by one, or several, of the shops. Naturally, they will be merchandised to Manhattan standards -no Xhiliration flip-flops here (not that we have anything against them)- with the Jonathan Saunders’ line (which will have launched just prior), Sigerson Morrison’s shoes, Anya Hindmarch’s bags and Richard Chai’s collection.

So, there was the Army of M.E. elbowing our way through the shoes at the Barneys warehouse sale. I scored the most adorable gray ankle boots that had all the right numbers -size and price. They were perfect for this season and I was already fantasizing about the navy blue and other autumn-inspired stocking colors I’d be wearing with the boots when I stood up and saw the reflection in the mirror. Somehow, the perfect boot in the box translated horribly on the body. They didn’t come too high -you know, if they don’t hit low enough on the ankle and are right at the bottom of the calf they truncate the leg to look like a tree stump. That’s never good but that wasn’t the problem, they were just not demure and sweet -they looked like bricks…no, cinder blocks dangling from my ankle. Reluctantly, I had to return them to the shelf and move on. Walking down the street, away from the sale, I thought about the boots and why it didn’t work out between us. It was then that I had a minor style epiphany -I knew that I loved the idea of the boots when I saw them and that they are very in style and on every page of the fashion mags…but that’s not how I’ve ever dressed myself before so why was I subscribing now? I don’t follow trends or anything dictated by fashion mags -this clunky, chunky shoe trend has been persisting for years now and still I have not succumb and the idea that I almost considered it…well, let’s just say not buying those boots made my day. I rarely speak of things within fashion that I despise like this shoe trend and high-wasted mom pants but it felt uplifting to chose to look like a woman instead of like everyone else teetering on those clunky disasters. While this photo is not exactly what I wanted to show, they keep appearing on my search and they’re hideous enough.
British pop sensation Leona Lewis has been tapped to design a range for British fashion sensation Topshop. Our London bunkers are reporting that Leona Lewis and Philip Green are meeting before she heads back to the States. Lewis has previously mentioned interest in designing a vegan clothing line -whether this collection will be vegan is unconfirmed. We are covering this mostly for the comedic value -this will by quite the hotmess, just imagine Mariah Carey designing for…well, anyone. Lewis is not quite the queen of cheese like Carey but they are quite similar in the nauseatingly-girly department.
Although we showed you scanned images from the Comme des Garcons range for H&M already, this shot is styled and on a form for the September issue of W magazine. The line will not be available for mass consumption until November. I suspect there will be early-formed lines, absolute madness and empty, disheveled racks within moments of the doors opening. There are some particularly stand-out items (considering the price point) that I think most people will gravitate towards making them even more coveted.
